AFC Wulfrunians 1, Stourport Swifts 2

Midfield maestro Calvin Dinsley produced a Man of the Match display to help guide his side into the third round of the League Cup.

The midfielder, who is set to join Redditch United, had a hand in both Swifts’ goals – for defenders Jamie Willets and Kevin Spencer – ahead of his move to Southern League Premier side Redditch United.

The home side started the stronger and thought they had taken the lead inside eight minutes when Scott Stevenson steered home a Craig Gregg cross only for the effort to be ruled out for offside.

Stourport’s first effort of note fell to John Griffin after a decent build-up, but the shot was easily taken by Wulfs keeper Jonathon Brown.

The breakthrough came on 28 minutes. Dinsley’s corner to the far post was headed back across goal by Spencer and Willets was on hand to apply the finishing touch.

But Wulfs bounced back and keeper Daniel Kier, on his Swifts debut, did well to keep out a Stevenson strike.

The equaliser came two minutes before the break when some sloppy defending was punished by Michael Robertson from close range.

But it was Swifts who booked their place in the next round draw when a fine Dinsley free-kick picked out Spencer who made no mistake.

Jamie King had a late chance to force the game into extra time but his free-kick for the home side failed to beat the wall.
