Stourport Swifts 0, Highgate Utd 5

Stourport crashed out of the Worcestershire Senior Urn in spectacular fashion, MFL Division One side Highgate sweeping them aside to book their place in the final.

The warning signs were there as early as the sixth minute when Lei Brown sent over a telling cross for Ricardo Richards but the striker sent his close-range header the wrong side of the post.

The breakthrough came on 17 minutes and it was Brown on target, pouncing on a woeful back header from Jamie Willets before steering his shot past keeper Dan Keir and in off the post.

Swifts offered little in front of goal, their only chance of the half falling to John Griffin but he scooped his effort over the bar following a good run and cross by Ashley Parsons-Smith.

Two goals in six minutes then put Highgate well and truly in the driving seat.

Nathan Edgington made it 2-0 on 35 minutes when his corner deceived keeper Kier and ended up in the back of the net.

And some sloppy Stourport defending was punished when Brown had space to flick on a long ball forward for Richards who chipped the ball over the Swifts keeper.

It was a similar tale after the break when Paul Lacey’s free-kick to the far side of the area wasn’t dealt with and Michael Crawford swept the ball home from five yards.

Substitutes Connor Mooney and Liam O’Shea combined for Highgate’s fifth 14 minutes from time, the former’s shot being deflected into the path of O’Shea who easily beat the leaden-footed Kier from 15 yards.

With the job done, the visitors eased off a little in the closing stages and Swifts skipper Gary Walker had a rare shot on target but it was directed straight at Connor McCarthey in the Gate goal.

At the other end, there should have been a second goal for the impressive Brown a minute from time but, at full-stretch, he managed to clear the crossbar from two yards.
