Stourport Swifts 0, Kirby Muxloe 0

Stourport halted a wretched run of form at Walshes Meadow to battle their way to a goalless draw against their high-flying visitors.

But it should have been all three points for the home side as they created the better chances throughout.

On 15 minutes, the impressive Ben Maund had a good chance when he sneaked in at the far post but failed to hit the target.

And with five minutes of the half remaining, Ashley Parson-Smith found himself with just the keeper to beat but his shot was easily taken by the Kirby shot-stopper.

It was a similar tale in the second half with the solid Swifts defence, expertly marshalled by Jamie Willets and Michael Briscoe, stifling the visitors’ attack.

And midway through the half, another glorious chance for Stourport went begging when Maund pounced on a loose ball but failed to hit the target with his shot.

An injury to skipper Gary Walker weakened the Swifts midfield and Kirby Muxloe produced their best football in the final ten minutes, keeper Dan Kier doing well to keep them at bay.

Having put their three-match losing home run behind them, Rod Brown’s side will be looking to return to winning ways tomorrow [Tue] when county neighbours Alvechurch are the visitors to Walshes Meadow.
