Swifts 1, Bewdley Town 3

BEWDLEY Town ruined Stourport Swifts hundred per cent friendly run with a 3-1 win at Walshes Meadow on Saturday.

Bewdley capitalised on some shoddy Swifts defending to take control just before the break, when Ashely Stubbins pounced to put them 1- 0 up.

Stourport lacked the energy which had become their trademark in previous matches, and rarely threatened, and after 69 minutes Joe Maffei took advantage of a careless mistake by Richards in the Swifts goal to make it 2-0.

Swifts were given a lifeline when substitute Joe Phillips was brought down in the box, and Ben Maund made it 2 -1 from the penalty spot.

The revival was shortlived however when Jordan Graham robbed Beaumont and raced clear to fire a superb 20 yarder past Richards with five minutes left.

Swifts begin their Midland Football League campaign with an away match at Rocester, with their first home match on Tuesday, August 11 against Hereford (7.45pm).

Home supporters are advised to arrive early for this match as Hereford are expected to bring up to 1,000 travelling fans.
