STOURPORT Swifts suffered penalty pain as they exited the Worcestershire Senior Urn at the hands of Highgate in Birmingham on Saturday night.

Swifts had been pegged back 2-2 and were unlucky to lose the shoot out.

Joe Phillips had fired them ahead in the first half but Highgate drew level.

Phillips saw an effort ruled out for offside but James Hill made it 2-1, before Stourport’s opponents levelled in the 80th minute after Harry Beaumont had given away a hotly-contested penalty.

The game went straight to penalties but the luckless Phillips blazed the second Stourport kick over the bar.

It was unfortunate for the attacker, who had also scored in Saturday’s 2-1 loss to high-flying Heanor.

Manager Mark Phillips said: “We started slowly but overall I felt we played well and had some harsh decisions go against us.

“At the moment we’re not having the rub of the green and that’s in contrast to the start of the season, where everything was going for us.

“But it must be said, I do think we are playing well.”

Ben Maund (sliced finger) and Jamie Hyde (ligaments) are sidelined and are not expected to return for Saturday’s trip to Shepshed Dynamo in the Midlands Premier (3pm ko).

l Meanwhile in West Midlands Premier, Bewdley Town will look to bounce back at home to Malvern Town (3pm).
