BOSS Mark Phillips was delighted to see the goals fly in as Stourport Swifts continued their pre-season with a 3-1 win at Bishops Cleeve.

The Wyre Forest outfit let rip with three goals in the first half as Joe Robinson, Reece Shilvock and Sam Beasley hit the net.

Phillips said: “It was a very good display by us, we’ve been putting in some good displays without scoring so it was good to see us put some chances away.

“Bishops Cleeve had a pretty strong team out so it was encouraging for us.”

Swifts now tackle Bewdley Town at home in their next pre-season clash tomorrow (7.45pm ko). The two teams had previously drawn 0-0 at Ribbesford Meadow earlier in the season.

Swifts complete their pre-season programme away at League of Wales side Llandudno (noon start).

Stourport have been given two tricky away games to kick-off the Midlands Premier.

They start the season at home to Westfields in the FA Cup extra-preliminary round on August 6 and start the league at Long Eaton United a week later (both games 3pm ko).

They then got to AFC Wulfrunians on August 16 (7.45pm ko).

Stourport’s first home game in the league is against Shawbury United on August 23.

Phillips said: “Every game is tough in this league.

“To be honest this league is very tough as even the sides coming into it have had to win their leagues.

“I would think Alvechurch are the favourites but Sporting Khalsa have signed well also.”
