Second half treble boosts Swifts

Tividale 0, Stourport Swifts 3

Swifts warmed up for Saturday’s mouth-watering FA Cup clash with Stafford Rangers by easing to victory at Tividale.

But it took the half-time introduction of midfielder Calvin Dinsley to unlock the home defence.

Both sides struggled in front of goal in a disappointing first half although Lewis Pountney did plant a header onto the crossbar on 25 minutes from a Mark Smith cross.

Dinsley’s arrival lifted the Swifts and he had a hand in the opener just two minutes into the second half when the ball was worked to Joe Adams whose first time volley flew into the roof of the net.

From then on it was one-way traffic as the visitors looked to increase their lead. Tim Jackson and Kevin Spencer had efforts cleared off the line while Pountney was again denied by the woodwork.

The striker finally got his deserved goal on 65 minutes, forcing the ball over the line at the second attempt following a decent save from Tim Beech.

Five minutes later and the Swifts completed the scoring when good work from Gary Walker resulted in his shot being parried by the keeper. It looked as though the ball was destined for the net but Pountney made sure, netting his second of the game.

Swifts: Whitcombe 7, J Jones 7, Spencer 6, Benbow 7, Smith 7, WALKER 8 (Taylor 78), Adams 7, Evans 6 (Dinsley 46, 8), Pountney 7, P Jones 6 (Bridges 71), Jackson 7. Subs (not used): Pearce, Willetts
