WORCESTER Warriors' supporters have taken to social media to hail Gary Gold's decision to become the club's permanent director of rugby.

The 49-year-old, who joined the club at the end of January, will remain at Sixways until at least the summer of 2018.

More excellent end-of-season news from Sixways. Onwards and upwards next season.

The improvement under Gold has been impressive.

Best news all year apart from Donncha O'Callaghan.

No long-term commitment from Gary, and I imagine we'll be looking for a new director of rugby this time next year. It's understandable given the fact Gary's family are based in South Africa.

Fantastic news and what a great message from Gold. I love the club acknowledging the supporters a lot more now.

We know where we stand for the following season and if Gold does decide to move on, we have plenty of time to find the right director of rugby to replace him to keep us on an even keel.

I said at the start of the season we needed a Gary Gold type person and I was made up when it was announced he was joining until the end of the year as I didnt believe he would be a possibility.

Gold staying on for another season is just the icing on the cake and a really positive step. I cannot explain how happy and relieved I am.

Great news. Perhaps I'm seeing what I want to see but I don't remember a coach and captain acknowledging the importance of the supporters and their relationship with us so much.

Wah-RE-or

The glass is definitely half full. What a great couple of days and I am so impressed with the decisions being made and the words coming from all levels at the club.

If things can change so much in a couple of months I have great hopes for a whole new season. Thank you to Warriors' board for ensuring such an inspirational leader as Donncha and motivator stays too.

I am really glad to see Gary Gold sign back on again, and hope it hasn't caused any disruption to his family life.

As others have said, I'm disappointed not to have him for longer but if he is leaving next summer, at least the club will know about it and can spend the year preparing for the next stage.

Compare that with Dean Ryan leaving. The club were pretty much unprepare. New signings suddenly had to adjust to a club they'd signed for without the man who got their signature, and the coaches probably weren't ready either. That won't be the case in a year.
