FORMER Scotland international Tom Heathcote has signed a new deal at Worcester Warriors.

Inverness-born Heathcote has been limited to just nine first-team appearances this term after suffering a couple of nasty blows to the head.

He last featured for the first team in Gary Gold’s first match in charge of Worcester in the Anglo-Welsh Cup at Cardiff Blues on February 4.

The 25-year-old, who arrived at the club in the summer of 2015, enjoyed a successful debut campaign in the Blue and Gold.

He became first-choice fly-half but started behind Ryan Lamb in Worcester's opening Aviva Premiership match against Saracens.

Heathcote has racked up 161 points in 29 appearances for the club.

Warriors director of rugby Gary Gold said: “Tom is an extremely competent fly-half who enjoyed a fine maiden season at Sixways.

“He has been unfortunate to miss a large part of the current season through injury but we are looking forward to seeing him fit again and competing with our other fly-halves for a place in the side.”

Before arriving at Sixways, Heathcote rose through the ranks at Bath, where he was nominated for the LV= Breakthrough Player award in 2013, before moving to Edinburgh Rugby for a season in 2014.

He made his Scotland debut during his time at Bath and has gone on to make three appearances for his country.

Heathcote said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Sixways since my first game against Northampton Saints, although missing three months of this season has been frustrating.

“I am excited about the opportunity to get back out on the pitch to help the side.

“I am looking forward to what will hopefully be a long future at the club.”
