WORCESTER Warriors have named their 12-man squad for this weekend’s Premiership Rugby Sevens at Franklin’s Gardens.

A young Worcester side will be led by centre Will Butler while fellow academy players Tom Fawcett, Nick David and Luke Scully are also in the squad.

In Friday’s pool stages, Warriors take on Bath and Exeter Chiefs in Pool C.

The top eight-ranked teams then compete for the Cup on Saturday while the remaining four teams go for the Plate.

The competition will be shown live on BT Sport with Warriors’ first game with Bath live at 5.53pm before their clash with Exeter starts at 7.23pm.

Warriors academy manager Chim Gale said: “We’ve got a blend of young academy players and some more experienced sevens guys who are helping us out.

“It’s a great opportunity for some of the guys to pull on the Warriors jersey for the first time and test themselves on the big stage in front of the BT Sport cameras.

“We’ve also got some players who have represented the club before at previous sevens tournaments and also in the A League so it’ll be good to see how they perform on what promises to be a warm weekend in Northampton.”

Back row Zac Ward has been training with Warriors this summer and will combine studying at Hartpury College in the coming months with playing for Hartpury in the Greene King IPA Championship.

Scrum-half George de Cothi returns to play for Worcester after figuring for Loughborough University and Ampthill since leaving Sixways.

Winger Jordan Ainslie came through the Warriors junior ranks before signing for England sevens academy and is now at Bath University.

The sevens specialists drafted in include wingers Michael Mellett and Joss Linney, Scotland Rugby World Cup player Craig Jackson, experienced centre Naca Kinikinilau and back Mason Tonks.

Warriors: Mellett, Ward, Fawcett, Jackson, de Cothi, Butler, Scully, David, Ainslie, Kinikinilau, Tonks, Linney.
