VERSATILE Worcester Warriors back Ryan Mills insists he’s “fully fit” and says the heavy strapping on his right leg is nothing to worry about.

In fact, the former Gloucester player says he only wears the support on his leg during matches and not in training.

“I picked up a little niggle in pre-season which ended up going on for about six months and it was a really frustrating time for me,” said Mills who has played at fly-half in Warriors’ last two Premiership outings.

“I had an operation (on my groin) but I am fully fit and happy and ready to go. The strapping is just on my right leg.

“When I kick, my leg hyper-extends and it’s just there to prevent that. I run around freely all week and just have the strapping on for when I kick.”

Mills replaced Jamie Shillcock at stand-off in Warriors’ 24-17 win against Harlequins earlier this month. It was his first top-tier start for a year in the number 10 jersey.

The Exeter-born player took the man-of-the-match plaudits after racking up 14 points and putting in countless tackles in Warriors’ triumph.

But Mills struggled to assert himself at Kingsholm last Saturday as Warriors suffered a 55-19 league hiding at his former club Gloucester.

“Whether I am playing at 10 or 12, not a lot changes for me,” said Mills who has made 47 appearances for Worcester since arriving in 2014.

“I am not a crash-ball straight-up number 12. I have a big input in the decision-making from 12 so when I am playing at 10 not a lot changes and I find it easier than I probably thought.

“I just like playing rugby — whether that’s at 10 or 12 I am happy to do whatever the coaches think is best.”
