TIGHTHEAD prop Nick Schonert is set for a “significant” time on the treatment table after rupturing tendons in his ankle.
The South African-born front rower sustained the injury in Warriors’ 24-10 defeat to Wasps in the Aviva Premiership last Sunday.
Director of rugby Gary Gold feared Schonert had broken his ankle when he left the field on the stretcher.
But Gold confirmed the 25-year-old had “badly” damaged tendons and faced a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
“It does look like he has badly ruptured the tendons on both sides, so it will be a significant lay off,” Gold said.
“But he hasn’t broken the ankle, so that is some consolation.”
