BOSS Alan Solomons insists Worcester Warriors cannot think about anyone else but themselves as they battle to stay in the Aviva Premiership.

Warriors ended a run of three successive defeats with a 27-13 victory over Newcastle Falcons at Sixways on Saturday.

But they still slipped closer to the drop zone as relegation rivals London Irish gained a bonus point in a 35-5 thrashing of Harlequins at The Stoop.

With three games left Warriors are nine points clear of the Exiles and only a point behind 10th-placed Northampton Saints who were thumped 63-13 by Saracens.

This weekend sees Worcester visit Wasps and Saints travel to Leicester Tigers on Saturday before Irish host Exeter Chiefs on Sunday (all 3pm).

But Solomons has urged his players to keep “control of their own destiny” by concentrating on the clash against a “magnificent” Wasps side at the Ricoh Arena.

“For me the focus is just on Warriors and us performing as best we can each week,” Solomons said.

“We have got three games to go and all the opposition we play against are quality so we have got to play really well in each match.

“We have got to maintain control of our own destiny so we can’t think about what everybody else is doing.

“We have got to enjoy the moment then review the game, take the positives and the lessons out of it and move forward towards Wasps which will be a tough game.

“What has often presented us with difficulty is that third game (in a block).

“That needs addressing but Wasps is the second game and then we get a break.

“We need to really perform well against a magnificent side.”

With Warriors trailing 13-6 at half-time, Irish were heaping further pressure on Solomons’ men as they led Quins 22-0.

Worcester responded with 21 unanswered points as back rower David Denton struck twice and prop Nick Schonert went over.

But Solomons stressed he did not use the Irish score as a source of motivation before his side launched their second-half fightback.

“I was totally unaware of the score,” Solomons said.

“We never discussed it.

“We have got to control what we can.

“We just focused on this particular game and then when the game has finished you can see where everyone stands.

“But we played well and remain in control of our own destiny.”
