TALKS over a possible summer switch for Dorian Jones to Worcester Warriors have yet to begin with boss Alan Solomons insisting "it's early days”.

The Welsh fly-half has joined Warriors on loan from Dragons until the end of the season with the hope of securing a permanent move.

Solomons has been impressed by Jones since his arrival two weeks ago as he came off the bench to steer Warriors to a 27-13 win over Newcastle Falcons last Saturday.

Jones said he felt “right at home” at Sixways and admitted he would be keen to stay beyond this term despite having the option of another year at Dragons.

However Solomons said he had not considered discussing the future of the 26-year-old who is the son of ex-Worcester player Kingsley Jones.

“At this stage I have not even given it much thought,” said Solomons who brought in Jones after failing to land Duncan Weir on a short-term loan from Edinburgh in February.

“Duncan wasn’t released so he couldn’t come here.

“We managed to get Dorian and I think he has done really well.

“It's early days so let’s just see how it tracks.”

Jones is pushing to make his first start when second-from-bottom Warriors tackle Wasps at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday (3pm).

He could replace Jamie Shillcock who has worn the number 10 shirt for Worcester’s past seven Aviva Premiership games.

Shillcock, 20, will face more competition next season when Scotland international Weir and Australian ace Jono Lance to make the move.

The double swoop could also halt Jones’ efforts for a Warriors deal but Sam Olver will leave the club to join Championship side Ealing Trailfinders.

And it is unclear over the future of fit-again Tom Heathcote whose contract finishes at the end of the campaign.

“Sam needs to be starting week-in, week-out and Ealing are a very good side,” Solomons said.

“They have done very well in the Championship so I think it will be good for Sam’s career.”

Weir became Warriors’ 10th signing ahead of the 2018-19 campaign when the transfer was confirmed earlier this week.

Although Solomons was pleased by how well his squad was shaping up for next term he did not rule out adding further new faces.

“I am very happy where we are with recruitment,” Solomons said.

“I think we have got a good squad with good strength in depth and I am very happy with what we have been able to achieve so far.

“There has been a fair bit of effort put in.”

Asked whether he would be making further recruits, Solomons replied: “When everything has been concluded then we will make an announcement that everything has been finalised.”
