SAM Lewis hopes Dorian Jones will get another chance to shine at fly-half after being impressed by his “attitude” and “work rate” in training.

Jones has hit the ground running at Worcester Warriors since joining them on loan from Dragons until the end of the season.

Following his arrival in late March the 26-year-old got his first run out at Sixways in Worcester Cavaliers’ clash with Sale Jets.

He then came off the bench to inspire Warriors to a comeback 27-13 win over Newcastle Falcons before getting the nod at fly-half.

Although his first Aviva Premiership start ended in a 30-15 defeat at Wasps last Saturday flanker Lewis was full of praise of Jones’ performance.

“I know Dorian came in recently and played in an A League game but he has done really well,” Lewis said.

“I was really impressed with him on Saturday.”

Jones has made 66 appearances in five seasons for Dragons but only six of those have come this term.

The Welshman, who is the son of ex-Warriors player Kingsley Jones, has expressed his interest in a summer switch to Worcester despite admitting to having an option of another year at the Pro14 outfit.

Lewis said Jones was a “really talented” player and reckoned he should play against Harlequins at Sixways a week on Saturday (3pm).

“Ten is probably the toughest position out there so he has done brilliantly,” Lewis said.

“He has really taken to the boys and his attitude and work rate in training has been great.

“He is a bit younger than me, but I obviously know him and have played against him a few times.

“He is good on the ball and has got a great kicking game so he is a really handy player to have.

“Hopefully he will get another shot against Quins and I am sure he will as he has been impressing in training.

“I know Shilly (Jamie Shillcock) went well as well and has got a big future for us so we will see what happens.”

Warriors will be hoping to be boosted by the return of Francois Hougaard for their final home fixture of the season.

The influential scrum-half is battling to overcome an ankle injury sustained in the loss at London Irish in late February.

But Lewis has backed Michael Dowsett and Jonny Arr to keep filling the void.

“Hougaard is obviously a good player, but I thought Mikey did really well for his first start of the season (against Wasps),” said Lewis.

“Jonny is a great player as well and has been at the club for years.

“I know the medical team are working hard to try to get Francois back out there.

“Hopefully we will see him out in training, but we have got real strength in depth in that position so we will see what happens.”
