Local derby will be a great occasion for all

THERE is a big difference between endeavour, courage and the will to do something, and actually believing that you can do it.

Getting 10 points from our last three games has given us that extra belief and we are now determined to take that into the Gloucester game on Saturday. The local derby between Worcester and Gloucester is a great occasion for the team, players and fans.

You get an extra edge with derby games and it is occasions like this that you look forward to as a player.

Although it is a derby, I don't think we can be any more motivated for the game than we already are - we prepare with the same focus and intensity for every match.

The fact we have not beaten Gloucester in the Premiership doesn't come into it for us - we are determined to go out there and get the right result.

We trained for most of last week and then the lads had the weekend to themselves.

There are a few battered bodies in our squad, so the break came at the right time as the guys have put in a lot of effort recently.

It was good to have a weekend off and, although we performed badly after the previous mid-season break, I am sure that it led to us playing well afterwards.

Without it, I am not sure that we would have been able to achieve the good results we have lately.

I felt, from a physical point of view, that the break helped, although our performances straight afterwards weren't what we wanted.

To date, this month has been very successful and it has turned things around as we go into a big end to the season.

It is very difficult as a player when you have injuries. You can't do anything about it and it is very frustrating. Few people know what you are going through and some begin to develop an opinion about you that isn't true.

I have never known anyone as unlucky with injuries as Chris Horsman. He has had a tough time this season, but he offers us so much and is an important player.

In that respect, we've been lucky that Tevita Taumoepeau has been able to stand up to playing so many games.

Playing in his position, it is important to have rest, but he hasn't been able to do that this year and has been brilliant for us.

Aleki Lutui has been a massive player this season too. He is a real leader in the squad in the manner he conducts himself both on and off the field.

We don't really think about Leeds and their results because pressure is a restricting force and one that will not aid our play.

It is not as though Leeds are knocking right on the door at the moment so things are very much in our control.

We've been in far tighter squeezes than this one, but we still need a few more wins which will keep us fully focused right through to the end of the season.
