WORCESTERSHIRE County Cricket Club have today announced a surplus after tax of £58,772 for the period ending December 31, 2014.

This compares with a surplus after tax of £47,374 for the 12-month period ending September 30, 2013.

It is the fifth successive year that the New Road club have recorded a surplus after tax.

The County’s chief executive David Leatherdale said: “Over the last 18 months a great deal of work has been done to develop the club both on and off the pitch to continue the County’s aim of being a 365-day-a-year business.

“The completion of the club’s new ‘View’ hospitality and conference facilities, along with the Premier Inn hotel, have added a new dimension to what we have to offer.

“To record a profit for the fifth year running is testimony to the fantastic support received from our many loyal members and spectators.

“Added to this, the continued improvement on the pitch, which saw our young and growing team gain promotion to Division One of the LV County Championship for the 2105 season, in what will be the club’s 150th Anniversary Year.

“Last year also saw Moeen Ali cement a place in the England team and it all bodes well for the future.”

Leatherdale added: “After one of the wettest January and February on record in 2014, which caused substantial disruption, the development of the ground has been vital in mitigating the unique circumstances the club has had to manage by providing new revenue streams.

“They are to make sure the Worcestershire club can compete at the top level of the professional game and aim to re-invest in the team and our iconic New Road ground going forward.”
