TOM Kohler-Cadmore and Tom Fell hit half centuries for Worcestershire on the opening day of the two-day friendly with Gloucestershire at New Road.

Fell and Kohler-Cadmore came together at 21-1 and put on 118 in 33 overs for the second wicket.

Worcestershire were strongly placed at 198-2 but lost five wickets for 14 runs and were bowled out for 271 in the final over.

A heavy shower meant play was unable to get under way until 12 noon with play reduced to 80 overs duration instead of 96.

Worcestershire were put into bat after Gloucestershire won the toss with Tom Kohler-Cadmore again partnering Richard Oliver in Daryl Mitchell's absence.

The game was played on the same wicket as was used for the 50-over clash between the two counties with a short boundary on the Cathedral side of the ground.

James Fuller took the new ball and Oliver square cut his second delivery for four and then picked up another boundary with an off drive against Craig Miles.

Oliver drove Miles for successive boundaries but, after making 19 out of 21, the left-hander was caught by Ian Cockbain at mid-wicket off the same bowler.

Kohler Cadmore pulled and cover-drove Liam Norwell for four and Fell hit Tom Hampton for six backward of square.

By lunch Kohler-Cadmore had moved onto 16 and Fell 22 out of 57-1 from 15 overs.

The Worcestershire duo continued to impress in the afternoon session and a cut for three by Fell off Hampton brought up the 100 in the 26th over and there were also several sharply taken singles.

Fell reached his half-century out of 115-1 with a cut for four off Fuller.

It was Kohler-Cadmore's turn to reach 50 with a rasping cover-drive to the ropes off Fuller out of 132-1 in the 31st over.

The partnership was broken when Fel,l on 64, lofted spinner Matt Taylor into the hands of Norwell at long off.

Kohler-Cadmore moved into the 70s shortly before tea with an edge for four off Kieran Noema-Barnett.

The former Malvern College pupil remained unbeaten on 72 at the interval with skipper Alex Gidman 14 not out as Worcestershire reached 173-2 from 47 overs.

Worcestershire lost five wickets in quick succession during the early part of the final session of the day.

Kohler-Cadmore reached 85 when he was third out, caught at backward-point by Will Tavare off Miles at 198-3.

In the next over Alexei Kervezee was adjudged lbw to Hampton for a duck with only one run added.

Gidman produced some pleasing strokes before he was dismissed by Liam Norwell for 32 and two balls later the same bowler held onto a return catch from Ben Cox (0).

Miles claimed his third wicket when Ross Whiteley (8) was trapped lbw with Worcestershire 212-7.

Shaaiq Choudhry and Gareth Andrew added 35 before the latter was bowled by Kieran Noema-Barnett for eight.

The same bowler had Choudhry caught at slip for 34 while Jack Shantry (10) edged through to the keeper to wrap up the innings.
