MOEEN Ali is amongst the nominees for the 2015 Asian Cricket Awards (ACA).

The Worcestershire all-rounder has been shortlisted for the Professional Player of the Year award alongside his England team-mate Adil Rashid and former England Under 19 captain and Warwickshire batsman Varun Chopra.

It is the second successive nomination for Moeen in this category after he scooped the top prize at last year’s inaugural ACAs.

The 28-year-old played a key role in England regaining The Ashes this summer in his lower order batting role — only Joe Root and Alastair Cook scored more runs — and also picked up 12 wickets with his off-spin.

The awards, which are held in association with the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and supported by the Club Cricket Conference, are open to people with British Asian heritage as well as to those dedicated to increasing Asian participation in British cricket.

The categories are wide-ranging and recognise all areas of the game.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at Lord’s on October 13.
