WORCESTERSHIRE report back for winter programme training this week with two new full-time professionals in paceman George Scrimshaw and opening batsman Ollie Westbury.

The duo have signed their first pro contracts with the County having previously been part of the Academy intake.

Scrimshaw has been selected for the Young Lions squad this winter along with middle order batsman Josh Dell.

Westbury was chosen for the England Under-19s squad this summer and scored 196 on his Test debut against Sri Lanka Under-19s at Fenners.

There are less senior players reporting back to New Road and Malvern College this winter than in previous years.

The likes of Joe Leach, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Tom Fell, Ed Barnard, George Rhodes, Alex Hepburn, Jack Shantry and Charlie Morris are in action abroad - the majority of them in Australia.

But Ross Whiteley, Ben Cox and Ben Twohig could also be heading Down Under.

With Joe Clarke selected for a series of England Lions camps before heading to the UAE, only the likes of Daryl Mitchell and Brett D'Oliveira of the established players will be a regular part of the winter programme.

Josh Tongue is continuing his rehabilitation work after undergoing surgery in September on a lumbar spine injury.
