Only eight overs for County at New Road

IT was a frustrating day at New Road today as Worcestershire looked to build on their first innings 258-7.

Only 8.1 overs were possible with the County edging their way to 275-7. Steven Davies added nine to his overnight score of 50 and Gareth Andrew moved on to 25 not out after being unbeaten on 18.

Play was finally abandoned at 4.10pm and chances of a positive result from the match are fast diminishing.

But it was a story of on and off showers at New Road.

There were numerous pitch inspections throughout the day, before a hail storm at 3.45pm put paid to any cricket being played.

It may only be April, but, after last summer, the County will be cursing their luck that they have lost yet another day's play at New Road.
