WORCESTERSHIRE have extended Steve Magoffin's contract until the start of July allowing him to play in this season's Twenty20 Cup.

The Australian seamer has made a big impact since joining the New Road side in April, but with West Indies fast bowler Fidel Edwards not arriving until July, director of cricket Steve Rhodes has secured the 28-year-old for an extra month.

The Queensland-born bowler has only played one Twenty20 game for his Western Australian state side and is looking forward to getting some more games under his belt.

"There are lots of bowlers who do enjoy Twenty20," Magoffin said, "It is such a different type of cricket. It is good news that I'm staying to play in this format which seems to be taking over the world."

Rhodes said: "I have no doubt that his strengths will help our Twenty20 challenge."
