REPLACING Zaire Taylor and Will Creekmore was never going to be an easy task for Worcester Wolves.

But director of basketball Paul James believes he has found two players capable of filling those sizeable boots.

Chavis Holmes, who has played in the British League for Surrey and spent last season with German side VfL AstroStars Bochum, has replaced Taylor, the league’s most valuable player in 2013-14, at point guard.

Fellow American Robert Thurman takes over from Creekmore with the towering 6ft 10ins centre having been recommended by his compatriot.

James said: “Chavis Holmes is coming in to lead us from the point and taking over from Zaire. I think he’s a quality player in himself and he knows the league.

“He’s a tough competitor as well, he can score and is a good defensive player. I’m really pleased to have him leading the team.

“Robert Thurman, who has come in to replace Will, is a very good athlete, runs the floor well with good back-to-basket moves, and is another work-horse like Will so I think he will be very effective too.”

James added: “Remi Dibo has come in effectively for Kai Williams and he’s another tremendous player.

“I spoke to all the players at length before recruiting them just to get a feel for what they’re about. I like what they’re saying and hopefully they like what we’re about as a club and what we’re doing, otherwise they wouldn’t be here.

“They all seem very enthusiastic and now it’s just putting them on the floor and seeing what we’ve got.”
