HOLDERS Worcester Wolves take the defence of their British Basketball League Trophy crown to Leicester Riders tonight (7.30pm).

Victory in last season’s final against Glasgow Rocks in Scotland was Wolves’ first piece of silverware since being elected to the elite league.

They then went on to cap an historic campaign by emerging triumphant in the play-offs at Wembley.

Paul James’ side have already toppled Durham Wildcats 86-84 in this season’s Trophy and head into tonight’s quarter-final looking to record a second victory of the season after winning 86-82 at Leicester in the league last month.

Head coach James, whose side hosted Surrey United last night, said: “I don’t see why we can’t win, we’ve played them before in the league at their place with only seven players and everybody stepped up very well.

“It was a fantastic win for us and I’m sure they’re going to be smarting from that and will be looking to gain a little bit of revenge.

“We are a much deeper team now so hopefully we will be able to cope with what Leicester throw at us.”

Since losing to Worcester, Leicester have won their last seven encounters in all competitions, including an 81-51 Trophy victory over Leeds Force.
