WORCESTER Wolves’ American point-guard Chavis Holmes has been named in the British Basketball League’s team of the week.

Holmes scored 19 points in Wolves’ narrow 71-70 home win against Surrey United and registered eight rebounds, five assists and garnered two steals on an important night of work.

It is the fourth time in 19 rounds that Holmes has been in the league’s team of the week.

Wolves head coach Paul James said: “Chavis has come in after playing at Surrey a couple of years ago and has done a great job.

“A lot of the close games we’ve won have been down to Chavis because he’s got the ball to the right people at the right time, taken a big shot or controlled the show.

“It’s well deserved because he’s been solid all season and is getting better. “

Holmes had a quiet evening in Wolves’ 80-71 loss at Leicester Riders in Saturday’s BBL Trophy tie but will be hoping to inspire Worcester in Friday’s home clash against Bristol Flyers (7.30pm).

Wolves are also in league action on Sunday when they visit Cheshire Phoenix in the league (5.30pm).
