WORCESTER Wolves have signed Josh Cameron, a player who has been watched by a number of NBA scouts.

The 23-year-old American has spent time on the roster of Memphis Grizzlies’ summer league team.

Prior to that, the 6ft 1in tall Cameron played his college basketball at Coastal Carolina, averaging 13 points a game in helping his side to consecutive NCAA tournaments, which ended a 21-year absence from the post-season party.

Should he arrive in time, Cameron may make his Wolves debut at Sheffield Sharks on Sunday.

Cameron said: "This is a really interesting opportunity to play in England and to be able to join the Worcester Wolves and help them to succeed in the BBL is one that I am looking forward to.

"I have heard about the club’s ambitions and really want to be able to contribute to the programme and make an impact on the court."

A major feature of Cameron’s game is his three-point shooting, converting 37 percent of his attempts over the last couple of seasons. Wolves stand last in the league in successful three-point shots.

Wolves head coach Paul James is delighted to to fill the vacancy at the guard position after Malik Smith was released just three games into the new season.

“I’m looking forward to Josh joining the team," said James.

"He will be coming in at a time where the team are really starting to play well together, which should make his transition smoother.”

James added: “There are many areas of the game that we need to improve on, one of them is our three point shooting and Josh will help strengthen us in this area.”

The first chance to see Cameron in a Wolves vest in Worcester will be on November 6 at the University of Worcester Arena when James' men face London Lions in the quarter-finals of the BBL Cup (7.30pm).
