As a former QE schoolboy I have very fond memories of Mr Lench (Lionel).
I remember him as a teacher but mainly as a friend. He was not at all impressed with my Art work, but hopefully I gained his respect on the playing fields. In later life when I saw him out and about in Kidderminster we used to exchange our views on horse racing - he did like a ‘flutter’.
Sadly missed.......

Lionel was not only my art teacher at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar school but also a great friend. He was always kind and supportive, amusing and witty. Deeply saddened to learn of his untimely passing and someone for whom I will always have fond and cherished memories.

I had the privilege of having Lionel as a teacher whilst at Queen Elizabeth School Hartlebury. Great art, games, and PE teacher. He was little frustrated that we played Football rather than Rugby. All round good chap, funny, and interested in everything and everybody. Scholar David Beddoes 1954 - 1960

Mr Lench was my Art teacher at King Charles High. He taught me how to draw a teapot with a face in it like in Alice in Wonderland!
He was very supportive teacher who you could talk to about anything. He will be missed.

Lionel was my form master at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, Hartlebury. He was a strong man with a gentle nature who gave me much encouragement and a love of sport. He will be sadly missed by all who came into his presence.
