A GP practice in Rubery has been nominated for a prestigious award after going above and beyond for patients.

Cornhill Surgery on New Road is up for the GP Practice of the Year Award as part of the Worcestershire Health and Social Care Awards 2021.

Georgia Cooney, manager at the Meadows Nursing Home in Rubery, nominated the surgery for the award and praised the dedication of Dr Diler Ahmed throughout the pandemic.

She said: "He has worked all the way though it and has put my residents first from the beginning.

"He has made provisions for us to pick up prescriptions over weekends and when he is not working in the surgery he has been working in a walk-in-centre.

"I personally think he deserves a medal for his time during this pandemic.

"The kindness he shows to the residents is second to none. The help and guidance he has given me and my team over this last year has been over and above his job role.

"The support he has given families, has been above and beyond."

The awards are sponsored by the University of Worcester, and supported by Sanctuary Housing, NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire, Knights Pharmacy and Worcestershire County Council.
