This award goes to the Health Care Employer who can demonstrate strong commitment to employees without diminishing the care they provide.
Huw James
Huw James, managing director of companies Clarendon Care and Redwood Health Care, has been recognised for going above and beyond for residents and staff.
They provide residential and nursing care within the county of Worcestershire.
He was nominated by Ann Norris, manager of the Chandos Lodge Residential Home in Hagley, who said: “Mr James has gone above and beyond his role of director, visiting each home every week and ensuring that all residents and staff are keeping well throughout the pandemic.
“When required he has rolled his sleeves up and supported homes with assembly beds for residents that have become so ill, they required specialised equipment to safely look after them.
“The dedication and commitment that staff receive from Mr James is priceless, in 14 years in the health and social care sector I have never before come across a director that is so committed to his staff team, of all levels.”
Sanctuary Care - Sheila O’Connor
Sheila O’Connor, director of operations for Sanctuary Care, says she is honoured after being recognised for the Health Care Employer Award.
Sanctuary Care has said their mission is to enrich the lives of residents, staff and their communities.
"The way we've supported our staff during this pandemic speaks volumes about our ethos, the care service said.
"We had a team dedicated to sourcing personal protective equipment, clocking up thousands and thousands of miles delivering this to our homes to keep everyone safe."
Sheila O’Connor, director of operations for Sanctuary Care said: “To have been shortlisted for the employer award during this pandemic is truly an honour.
"We have worked tirelessly to support the amazing staff in our care homes, introducing so many measures for their mental well-being, which have enabled them to do what they do best – enrich the lives of our wonderful residents. We are enormously proud of them.”
Where Next
A community-spirited charity supporting adults with learning difficulties has been recognised for supporting and nurturing its staff.
Where Next, based in Redditch and Studley, has been shortlisted for the Health Care Employer Award for going "above and beyond."
Nic Wilkinson, who works at Where Next, said: “I have benefited first hand from their investment in their staff and the way the organisation goes above and beyond to support, look after and nurture its staff and its clients.
“Our head of ops is always there to listen and support in whatever way he can, you don't have to worry about losing out on income if you are taken ill or if you need to make sure your gran gets to her hospital appointment, he will make sure you take the time to do it.”
