WORCESTER MP Robin Walker will attempt to encourage the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to intervene in the financial crisis at Worcester Warriors.

He will urge it to place the club into administration when he addresses parliament tonight (Thursday).

When asked if he was confident of getting his desired outcome, Walker tod the Worcester News: "That’s the million dollar question.

"I cannot be certain but I know they are appraised on the facts and to me they all point in that direction.

"I will challenge some of the assertions of the owners about what administration would mean in my speech but in 15 minutes I won’t have time to say everything.

"I am also sending DCMS a lot of information behind the scenes."

It comes on the day Worcester was able to provide assurances to the Rugby Football Union that they can host Saturday's game with Newcastle Falcons at Sixways.

The game will go ahead as scheduled but the club's future remains unclear at best.

The current owners released a statement last Sunday suggesting a deal was close for the sale of the club and that an announcement would be made on Tuesday.

But three days later and there is still no news and some reports are now suggesting that deal has fallen through.
