COUNTRY acts will be line dancing their way to Stourport Riverside for this weekend’s Country and Western Festival.

The event, organised by Wyre Forest District Council, will take place on Saturday and Sunday.

Musicians include Tony Rouse who was runner-up on BBC One’s Search For a Star competition, judged and financed by a young Simon Cowell. Tony has played at major country festivals, Wembley and the Royal Albert Hall.

Jonny Holland will also be performing for dancers and country music listeners and has worked at major events throughout the country.

Another musician, Alan Gregory became hooked on country music when he was invited to join the Stone Mountain Country Band in 1991.

After 10 years with the group he went solo and now spends his time recording, arranging and producing his backing tracks and is very proud of the fact that all of the music used in his performances is his own.

It is a return visit to the festival for Magill, who will be performing the latest line dancing hits and popular country tracks.

Donna Wylde will also be performing on the Sunday. The popular singer has twice won Best British Female Artist at the British Country Music Awards.

On Saturday the music starts at noon until 8pm and Sunday kicks off at 10am until 5pm.

John Campion, leader of Wyre Forest District Council, said: “This promises to be a great weekend of Country and Western music and dancing.

“There is a fantastic line-up of internationally renowned acts. Stourport Riverside will be a sea of dancers and everyone can join in.

“Entry is completely free, so we’re encouraging residents and visitors to come down and enjoy the music.”
