STAN Webb’s Chicken Shack will be headlining the Midsummer Madness Concert at Kidderminster Town Hall later this month.

The concert, on June 28, will mark the first time in 50 years Stan Webb has performed at the town centre venue.

The band have released 24 albums and had two singles in the UK charts top 40 during 1969 - their cover of Etta James’ I’d Rather Go Blind making it to number 14.

Chicken Shack’s membership has gone through many changes since first formed in 1965 by Stan, David Yeates and Andy Silvester, who went on to form fellow blues band, Big Town Playboys.

Between 1976 and 1998, Stan was the only regular of the band, with members being rotated between big names in British blues music, such as ex-Ten Years After drummer Ric Lee, and Keef Hartley.

Former members have also included Christine McVie, who went on to play in Fleetwood Mac, and Chris Wood, a founder member of rock band Traffic.

The current Chicken Shack line up, now featuring guitarist Gary Davies and bassist Jim Rudge, will be supported by Zoot Money’s Big Roll Band and The Tribe.

Doors open at 7.00pm and tickets, costing £15, are available from Kidderminster Town Hall Box office on 01562 732158.
