SINGER and actress Toyah Willcox is joining members of Kidderminster Rock Choir for a special performance in Birmingham next Saturday (July 19).

The rock choir is taking part in the concert alongside the other rock choirs in the midlands.

Members from the Kidderminster choir and their leader Christa Hugo joined Toyah on Tuesday, June 24, to practise the repertoire they will be performing at the show, as well as a number of Toyah’s hits.

The Rock Choir, which featured on ITV’s The Choir That Rocks, will perform a variety of songs including the unveiling of a new song written by Toyah, Simon Darlow and Caroline Redman Lusher, Rock Choir founder.

Caroline said: “It’s such an exciting show to be involved in.

“I’ve been a fan of Toyah’s for years so to have the chance to work with her has been an amazing opportunity both for me and the rock choir members.”

Rock Choir is the UK’s largest and most popular contemporary choir, with more than 16,000 members in over 300 local communities nationwide.

It offers adults and teenagers the chance to sing and perform popular contemporary and classic pop songs, with no auditions and no requirements to read music or have any previous singing experience.

Since the first choir was started, it has released two top twenty albums and performed at venues all over the country including the 02 Arena, London and The Liverpool Echo Arena, Wembley Arena, Hammersmith Apollo and the Royal Albert Hall.

The choir has also achieved three Guinness World Records.

As well as being subject to the three-part ITV documentary, the choir has also appeared on BBC Breakfast, The One Show, The Paul O’Grady Show and The Alan Titchmarsh Show.

The choirs will be performing two shows at the Birmingham Symphony Hall, one at 3pm and one at 8pm.

Tickets are available at thsh.co.uk and a collection will be held to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust in tribute to Stephen Sutton, who died last month.
