Motown fans can banish the post Christmas blues with a night of classic 1960s and ’70s sounds.

The Motown Memories event takes place at the Gainsborough House Hotel in Bewdley Hill, Kidderminster on Boxing Day at 8pm.

Classics by the likes of Diana Ross and the Supremes, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops and The Temptations will be played by DJs Colin and Keith Guest and Shaun Parker through to 1am. The event will be held in the hotel’s main suite.

Bewdley Choral Society will perform Mozart’s Mass in C Minor at a concert on Saturday. Under the guidance of new musical director, John Swindells, the piece will be performed with professional soloists and full orchestral accompaniment.

The concert will also feature 20th century music from Benjamin Britten’s choral dances in Gloriana and John Rutter’s A Sprig of Thyme. It starts at 7.30pm in St Anne’s Church, Load Street, Bewdley.

Stourport Choral and Operatic Society’s Christmas carol concert will feature the choir of Wilden All Saints CE Primary School.

Taking place at Stourport Civic Centre at 7.30pm next Saturday, the show will be made up of festive songs and carols with the opportunity for audience participation.

Just before the interval, Santa and his elves will arrive, giving children the opportunity to go stage and receive a small gift to keep them going until the big day. Tickets are available from the box office at the Rose Theatre, Kidderminster, or from 01562 743745.

A festive concert lit by more than 1,000 candles is being held in Kidderminster this Saturday. The West Midlands’ Handbell Ringers and St George’s Church Choir will join together for a candlelit service.

The concert takes place at St George’s Church, Radford Avenue, from 7.30pm.
