A ELUSIVE seldom spotted beast of Welsh rock can be sighted in Rhos-on-Sea this month.

Having kept a somewhat low-profile since their rise to industry acclaim earlier in the decade - instrumental surf band, Y Niwl, are heading to Pie Records.

Fan or otherwise - their music may be familiar to your ear - the track Undegpedwar, off their first album Y Niwl was used as the theme tune to the BBC television show Football Focus.

Having toured with Super Furry Animal' frontman Gruff Rhys as his backing band, their second album 5' was released in February 2018, and now they are currently performing a short run of shows.

Arron Cooper, manager of Pie Records, said: "We are delighted be we hosting bands of this calibre, it'll be sparkling. Having internationally recognised artists, such as this, is really helping to put Rhos-on-Sea - and Conwy as a county - on the creative map."

For a rare live show sighting of Y Niwl, head to Pie Records at 7pm on Friday, January 25.

Tickets are limited and cost £5, to book call the venue on 01492 339055.
