HIS TAP dancing gained him a place in the semi-finals of the TV series Got to Dance - and now Freddie Huddleston will be displaying his talents in the musical Back to Broadway, which will launch its 2015 UK tour at Worcester’s Swan Theatre.

Freddie, 24, will be performing routines including the famous Fred Astaire number Singing in the Rain, and will also be choreographing the entire show.

“I was appearing in Back to Broadway last year and managed to combine that with appearing live in the semi-final of Got to Dance on Sky1 as we weren’t on stage that weekend,” said Freddie.

“This year I’m not only dancing in Back to Broadway but I’m choreographing the dance routines, which is something I’m very excited about as I’m as passionate about choreography as I am about dancing.

“The choreography is going to be very different for the new tour with lots of different ideas. There will be three guys and four girls, compared to four of each last year, and I will tap dancing which I wasn’t doing last year.

“We try to vary the content of Back to Broadway each year, so we’re keeping iconic numbers such as One Day More from Les Misérables, but are also adding new routines such as a brilliant one on an MGM musical theme.”

This is the fourth nationwide tour of Back to Broadway, which was voted the UK’s No. 1 Musical Theatre Show. It will include shows from famous musicals including The Lion King, Dirty Dancing, Miss Saigon, Hairspray, Mamma Mia, and Chicago.

Freddie – who was described as “the next generation of tap dance” by Got to Dance judge Adam Garcia – was brought up in Lincolnshire, and started having tap dancing lessons when he was aged 11. He went on to study musical theatre at Peterborough Regional College, then Tiffany Theatre College in Essex and embarked upon a professional career.

Back to Broadway is at The Swan Theatre in Worcester tomorrow at 8pm. Tickets cost £20 per person and can be booked at backtobroadway.co.uk.
