POLICE have released images of two men they want to trace who may be able to help their investigation into a robbery in Kidderminster during which the victim was thrown into the canal.

It is believed they may have witnessed the incident which began outside Tribe nightclub, Green Street, in the early hours of Sunday, September 30.

Following a confrontation there, one group of young men was chased via Dixon Street, New Road and then through Tesco car park to the canal townpath.

A man in his 20s was then attacked and pushed into the water after his iPhone 4 was stolen.

He was pulled from the canal by a member of the chasing group - the same man seen in a different CCTV picture without his woolly hat.

Det Sgt Nick Husbands said: “The two men we want to trace are in their late teens or early 20s and were seen on CCTV in the area when the offence took place and probably saw what happened.

“They were quite distinctively dressed with one wearing a Union Flag patterned woolly hat, white t-shirt with a large motif on the front and blue trousers or jeans.

“The other was wearing a blue t-shirt with the letters A and N prominently displayed in white on the front. He was also wearing dark trousers.

“We would like to speak with them as they may have information that could help our investigation.”

Anyone with information should call Det Sgt Husbands on 101, quoting incident 139-S-300912, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

A man has been charged with robbery in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Worcester Crown Court on Monday, January 21.

A youth was also arrested on suspicion of robbery last Wednesday, November 14 and released on police bail until January 4, pending further inquiries.
