WORCESTERSHIRE County Council’s fleet of gritters will be heading out to treat more than 800 miles worth of highway tonight after temperatures are expected to drop below freezing.
Thirty-one vehicles will be on the roads from 8.30pm.
Motorists are being urged to drive with caution and not to assume it's safe to travel at normal speeds even if they believe roads have been treated with grit.
Mist and fog patches are also expected tomorrow morning.
The county council's Twitter account @worcscc will be keeping people up-to-date with the gritting.
Jon Fraser, county council customer and community Manager, said: "The recent heavy rain means there will be a lot of moisture on road surfaces, which has the potential to freeze when temperatures drop overnight.
"Driving conditions have been difficult over the last couple of days and even though it looks as if things will remain mostly dry tonight the potential for ice on roads will be another factor to take into consideration."
