WORCESTERSHIRE’s role in the English Civil War will be discussed at the next Wyre Forest Historical Research Group meeting.
The talk by Max Keen will concentrate on Worcester, Kidderminster, Bewdley and Stourbridge’s role and will take place on Tuesday (feb 19) in the Corn Exchange at Kidderminster Town Hall.
Gay Hill, publicity officer, said: “Worcestershire featured heavily in the Civil War, quite apart from the Battle of Worcester in 1651. “King Charles I granted Kidderminster a Charter in 1636 and nine years later travelled back through Kidderminster and Bewdley after his defeat at Naseby.
“We know that Max comes in Cavalier dress, ready to challenge any Parliamentarian sympathisers in the audience. So be prepared for a highly entertaining and stimulating talk. "
Everyone is welcome to attend and can pay on the door. For more information call Gay Hill on 01562 746370.
