CLEOBURY Country Farmers Market is to be launched this month.

The markets, beginning on Saturday. April 20, will run every third Saturday of the month between April and October, from 9am until noon, in and around St Mary's Church, Cleobury Mortimer.

They will feature items from local producers who have raised, grown or made their products. There will be free car parking for shoppers at any one of Cleobury’s three car parks, just off the High Street.

For the launch spring market on April 20 there will be an official opening at 10.30am, with free events and demonstrations during the morning outside the church, all with a yellow spring theme.

Cleobury Brass Band will play and clog dancers will entertain visitors.

Families will be able to enjoy Laser Quest, which will be run by Live the adventure.co on the vicar’s field.

All produce will be grown or made within a 35-mile radius of Cleobury, including rare breed meats, breads and cakes produced by local family bakers, homemade pies, seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables, speciality cheeses and olives, a variety of naturally made jams and chutneys, English wines, apple brandy, ciders and award-winning beers.

For gardeners, there will be a cottage herbery.

Clare Todd, manager of The Cleobury Country Centre, said: “Cleobury Country Ltd has always strived to support and grow the local rural economy and the farmers markets can bring together local producers and customers, while supporting the local independent retailers on the High Street.

“The Farmers Market has received strong interest and help from various community organisations, St Marys Church, Cleobury Mortimer Parish Council and the Local Joint Committee.”
