THE third phase of refurbishment at Wribbenhall Parish Rooms is set to start at the end of this month after almost £30,000 of funding was received for the project.

A £10,000 grant from lottery grants programme Awards for All has been secured to replace the windows in the main hall, while the parish rooms committee has been given £8,000 from Welcome to Our Future, a charity that supports sustainable developments, to insulate the roof.

A grant of £10,000 from the Leader Fund, a European initiative administered locally by Worcestershire County Council, will also help the committee create an outside courtyard.

The committee was formed in 2010 with a two-year plan to secure £250,000 of funding to revamp the parish rooms, in Kidderminster Road, and safeguard it for future generations.

It is hoped that 75 per cent of the work to restore the building to its former glory will be complete by next month.

Committee members are still applying for grants to finish the rest of the work. They need another £30,000 to modernise the kitchen, create storage space and sand and reseal the hall floor.

The cash is also needed to complete window and door replacement, redecorate the outside and for new tables and chairs.

The committee is aiming to complete all the work and have a grand opening in time for the facility’s 100th anniversary in 2015.
