A DISCOUNT store is set to open in Kidderminster this weekend - six days later than planned.
The 99p store will be welcoming its first customers on Saturday at 9.30am.
The new store, which has created 30 jobs, was due to open last Sunday but it was delayed due to "last-minute unforseen circumstances".
The UK discount brand has been undergoing a £250,000 makeover ahead of the opening at the former Boots store, which has been empty since the health and beauty retailer moved to Weavers Wharf last year, in the Swan Centre.
Bewdley brothers Nathan, 8 and Daniel Wallis, 10 will be attempting a world trolley dash record bid to mark the opening after winning a competition.
They will have 99-seconds to try to smash the world record of 267-items in 99 seconds.
They will also both be declared "VIPs" for the day – Very Important Pennysavers – as well as get to cut the official grand opening ribbon at the store.
There will be entertainment throughout the day from "Mr 99p" – the discount retailer’s UK entertainer – who will be giving away balloons and hosting a gameshow with vouchers and prizes up for grabs.
