A MOTHER, who suffered a sudden stroke, will be shaving off her locks to say thank you to the charity that supported her.

Sue Whitehouse will be shaving off all of her shoulder-length hair, along as will her 16-year-old son Sam, in aid of the Stroke Association tomorrow.

The mother of three suffered a mild stroke, which occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is cut off, last year and is hoping to raise awareness of the serious medical condition.

The duo will be bravely chopping off their locks at Elizabeth and Giovanni’s hair salon in Hurcott Road, Kidderminster, at 6.15pm.

“We are doing it to say thank you to the Stroke Association for supporting our family after I had a stroke last year,” Mrs Whitehouse said.

“It was a sudden thing.

I’m a very healthy lady and it just happened so I’m trying to make people aware that it can happen to anybody at any age.”

She added despite suffering another mini stroke she was “really lucky” as she had not been left with any damage. “I’m as good as you can get,” Mrs Whitehouse added.

She has already raised £300 for the charity and King Charles I School, which Sam attends, will also be donating some of the money raised from its Freedom Day to the Stroke Association.

Mrs Whitehouse said: “I’m very excited. I’m an outgoing person anyway but it will be different.

“If you are going to do it, do it now.”
