UPPER Arley C of E Primary School has launched its mission to become a Fairtrade’ school.
A tea party was held to mark the event, with children from the school’s eco committee explaining how Fairtrade food ensured farmers were paid a fair price and given safe working conditions.
They added that every week the school would hold a Fairtrade tuck shop.
Teacher Sarah Loughlin, who is leading the initiative, said: “The children feel it is very important to promote Fairtrade materials and are eager to develop the project. It is a great opportunity for the children to learn.”.
