A COFFEE and chat morning for family carers was held in the Kings Arms in Church Street, Cleobury Mortimer.

Organised by Shropshire Rural Community Council’s (RCC's) carers support service, the group meets on the first Wednesday of each month as an informal get-together for like-minded people.

Family carer Pat Marsh said: “After 18 months with the club, I have discovered several new friends and have a regular opportunity to share feelings, concerns and experiences.

“It can be quite lonely being a carer, as not only does the life of the cared-for person change but also the life of the carer themselves, so it is wonderful to have this drop-in group to come along to for support and, at the same time, have a chance to unwind and relax.”

Group organiser Dice Buchanan, of Shropshire RCC added: “The group has been going since July last year and now has 14 members, who have all been very active in raising funds to help support their planned activities and meeting room costs and we would warmly welcome any new members.”
