STAFF and pupils at a Cookley school are celebrating following the completion of £3 million project to improve their learning facilities.
The scheme at Cookley Sebright Primary School, in Lea Lane, was a phased programme of development which included an extension of eight new classrooms, an internal refurbishment and remodelling of the existing Victorian building and the demolition of existing outdated classrooms.
The county council managed the scheme as well part funding it along with a large contribution from the school itself . The development was designed by Quattro Architects of Gloucester and constructed by Kier Construction.
Martin de Vine, headteacher at the school, added: "Children, staff, governors and families are delighted this important project is now completed. At Cookley, children are at the heart of all we do and the modern facilities that are now available to us will enhance the happy, dynamic learning environment that makes our school community so special."
Conservative councillor Liz Eyre, council cabinet member for children and families, said: "As part of our commitment to improve school buildings in Worcestershire, the council has invested more than £3 million into extending and refurbishing the school.
"The new and updated facilities are a fantastic addition which will benefit many local children and families for years to come."
