LIFE-SAVING volunteers with a Wyre Forest charity which was hit by thieves are appealing for funds.
Wyre Forest Severn Area Rescue Association’s (SARA)’s district base, at the former Lea Castle Hospital site, Cookley, was targeted on Monday last week.
Equipment taken included the rapid deployment craft – also known as the banana boat – two full fuel tanks and a tool box and tools. Two of the charity’s Land Rovers were damaged and one of the boat sheds was broken into.
On Facebook, a message from SARA volunteers read: “Our Wyre Forest rescue station was the victim of an unbelievable burglary and vandalism.
“Wyre Forest Sara remains on call for all incidents but the team appeals for any information on this crime to be reported immediately to West Mercia Police. SARA needs to replace and repair key equipment."
Call Cally Carter on 01562 850155, or send a cheque payable to SARA-WFRS to Cally Carter C/O Orchids Corner Florists of Cookley, 28 Bridge Road, Cookley, DY10 3SA.
