A HARTLEBURY couple will celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary today.
Les and Dot Corbett, of Moors Villa, were married by a bishop at All Saints Church in Wilden in 1954 and have lived in the same house for 60 years since tying the knot.
The duo, who have three children, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, met as teenagers at the former Stourport Senior School and became childhood sweethearts.
Mr Corbett, 82, who has lived in the same neighbourhood for his whole life, said: “It is quite an achievement to be married for 60 years.
“A lot of people grow out of love but ours keeps getting stronger and we love each other more than ever."
The former carpenter added the key to their successful marriage was “being prepared to apologise and working things out together”.
Mrs Corfield, 83, who worked as a weaver at Bond Worth before having children, said: “We have a very strong friendship, which has been the foundation for our marriage. My husband is a very caring man and I love him to bits.
“Over 60 years we have had many ups and downs in life but we have always got through everything together.”
The couple, who enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren, have been left in the dark regarding anniversary celebrations by their daughter, Lisa Lockwood.
Mrs Lockwood, who has arranged a surprise day of activities for her parents, said: “They have been so supportive, caring, giving and kind over the years and have always gone that extra mile to help their family.”
