ACTIVITIES for all the family are currently being held at the Worcestershire County Museum at Hartlebury Castle.

Three different children’s craft activities are taking place every Tuesday to Friday during the month between 10.30am and 4pm.

The activities explore periods of history such as the Romans and Egyptians as well as themes including the seaside and pirates.

On every Tuesday and Wednesday during the month there will also be a chance to join in the have-a-go archery in the castle's Carriage Circle for an additional cost.

This week’s theme of activities is ancient history which includes making clay pots, model Roman arenas and hieroglyphic code wheels, while next week’s seaside theme includes designing weather mobiles, seaside snappers and pebble pots.

The museum is rounding off the summer with a special pirate themed week including Pirate Day on bank holiday Monday, August 25.

Pirate School will be a day out where families can learn how to be a pirate on the good ship Hartlebury.

Lessons include reading treasure maps, making pirate flags, doing jobs aboard ship, singing sea-shanties and how to talk like a pirate.

Rachel Robinson, the museum manager, said: “School holidays can seem endless and it can start getting really expensive keeping the kids entertained but a visit to the county museum is affordable fun for the whole family.

“In between activities, you can take advantage of our excellent café facilities or simply bring your own picnic lunch to enjoy in our fabulous grounds.

“Throughout the summer each week has a different theme, so families can visit more than once and be assured of finding new activities to delight and inspire them as well as learning something new.

“For those who do plan to come more often, the family pass offers great value and includes admission to all craft activities and events for a year.”

Entry to the castle costs £5 for adults, £2.50 for children and concessions and £13 for a family ticket.

Castle activities cost an extra £1 per child with a family pass costing £32.
