AS SCOTS had their historic say on the future of their country, pupils at a Kidderminster school held their own momentous polling day.
Youngsters at Birchen Coppice Primary cast their votes in their school council elections.
And, amid the election fever, those in Years 5 and 6 also held a poll on the big Scottish question.
The result was remarkably similar to the national poll north of the border - with 39 votes for Scotland to remain in the United Kingdom and 29 saying "yes" to independence.
Assistant headteacher Helen Harris said: "Our Scotland vote was part of work we are doing in literacy about having balanced arguments and democracy."
Pupils in each year group at Birchen Coppice voted for their representatives on the school council, who meet weekly to give the pupils a "voice".
They come up with ideas for fundraising and other initiatives in the school, following a proper agenda.
The school council recently even got the chance to question candidates shortlisted for the job of their new headteacher.
